Assuming that a Ford, Kubota, John Deere, and other brands were created equally, who would you buy from? Who could you count on for parts? service? dealer support? If Ford had the same specs and prices as a Deere, what would drive you to buy either one?

Maybe there was something wrong with your hydro. I can't stall mine even if I try. I usually use the loader at about 1800 RPM, never over 2000 RPM. I think hydro is great. If you like it better in a lawn tractor, you will like it better in a compact, especially for loader work or mowing. ....

The answer is a local one. Corporate wise, you won't find much difference between tose brands since they are ary very reputable.I belive the most important piece of the puzzle is your local dealer. Talk to your neighbors to find both good and bad expirences.If you can find a dealer who is able to help you, it is a strong plus.Geography also counts. Being close to your dealer makes it easier to get the service you need.So you and your neighbors are the best ones to answer your question. ....

Assuming all is equal, there's one other thing: Resale/trade-in/equity value.When I went to buy a tractor, I first looked at used as well as new. My first stop was a good Kubota dealer. When I asked about used, he pointed to a Deere and gave me a price. He apologized for the high price but said that Deeres command a high price on the used market because people would pay more for them. If I'm going to pay about the same for new but have a tractor that's worth more later and all is equal, which one should I buy? ....

I really don't like your question because in my oppion they are not cteated equal.However, even though I bought Kubota because for my use it is a much better tractor, I think history supports John Deere for part availablity. I can still by parts for a J.D. Model B constructed 50 years ago.Service and dealer support is not a call you can make on a large scale you need to feel out the local market and hope it is the same 5 years from now when you really need servive and dealer support. For me it is a complete wash since my dealer sells both Kubota and John Deere.You should get the machine that best fits your needs from a good dealer. For me because I wanted a hydro trans. that ment Kubota hands down. If I had wanted a manaul gear transmision (not an automatic gear- a.k.a. Glideshihft) I probably would have bought a J.D. 4300.An interseting note the people how worked at the dealership seems evenly split between orange and green.Resale value also varies by region. Around here both J.D. and Kubota have very high resale values, go 3 hours north the edge goes to J.D., go 3 hour south the edge goes Kubota. New Holland/Ford is third in all those areas. ....

Your question cannot be answered because it there IS a difference. John Deere holds the crown at this time. Possibly more on reputation than on actual products, but their products are excellent too. How can anyone everovertake JD's lead in providing parts for all their products for 50-60 years? This is an almost insurmountable record. TO compete with this, some othermanufacturer will have to be very creative. Just making a product as good or even better won't do it. Roger Loving ....
